    A member of the Intellectual Property team, Jason Hendry is an IP Strategy expert at Stratford, specializing in the development and management of effective IP strategies for his clients.

    Jason has a unique background that spans both industry and academia, offering a rare blend of practical and theoretical expertise. With twenty-five years of experience in technology development and commercialization, Jason has extensive experience assessing the patentability of early-stage technologies, determining the value of intellectual property assets, and in negotiating patent licensing agreements.

    His extensive background includes managing the development and commercialization of early-stage technologies, with a notable focus in the medical device sector.

    At Stratford, Jason uses his deep expertise to craft and implement holistic IP strategies for clients. He manages IP portfolios with precision, develops IP-related policies and procedures, and conducts in-depth IP audits. Skilled in performing patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, as well as patent landscape analyses, Jason has provided tailored IP expertise across diverse industries.

    A graduate of both the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, Jason is committed to helping his clients maximize their intellectual assets while reducing risk and costs.

      How long have you worked at Stratford?

      I have been working at Stratford since 2017.

       

      What are 3 or 4 words that your clients and colleagues would use to describe you?

      Responsive, Reliable, Honest, Pragmatic

       

      What did you go to school for? How relevant is it to your current role at Stratford?

      Materials Engineering. In regards to how I use it in my role as an IP Strategist, being able to understand technical subject matter helps me to better serve my clients.

       

      How did you become interested in this field?

      I was originally enrolled in Civil Engineering but became interested in the design and processing of materials and how that can influence their properties and behaviour.

       

      What was your first job?

      My first job was at biomaterials company. I led the development and commercialization of their artificial bone technology for use in spinal surgery.

       

      What topic could you give an hour-long presentation on with little to no preparation?

      What is your most obscure hobby?

      I make alpine skis as a hobby
