Fresh off launching a program to help local tech firms safeguard their IP, Carleton University is setting up shop at a new innovation space in the heart of Kanata North in a bid to cement its connection to the region’s largest tech hub.

The move is featured in the Ottawa Business Journal, where the university says its Sprott School of Business is slated to open a 2,000-square-foot facility this fall at 350 Legget Dr. It’s part of the larger Hub350, which is billed as a “state-of-the-art global technology centre” that will bring together talent from the local tech, finance and academic sectors under one roof. Stratford is among the other tenants (which include software startup accelerator L-Spark and RBC) that utilize the space.

The space is part of Carleton's plan to connect its students with industry leaders in Kanata's tech sector and foster engagement with the larger business community.

As part of this initiative, Sprott partnered with Stratford Intellectual Property, to offer a 14-week certificate program designed to teach local tech firms how to protect their IP. The pilot course began March 24.
